In the Netherlands you can buy a pregnancy test at the drugstore or the pharmacy. They cost about 10 euro. Make sure it’s not past its expiration date.
Don’t test too early, you may not have enough of the pregnancy hormone in your urine to have a positive test result. The test is only accurate a day after you expected your period to start.
If you take the test out of the package it looks a bit like a felt-tip pen. After you take the cap off a stick remains with a small sponge on the tip.
You keep the absorbent tip in your urine stream and you put the cap on again. After a few minutes you can read off the result window whether you are pregnant or not.
A pregnancy test is only reliable if you follow the instructions carefully. So read the instructions before testing.
