I loose a lot of blood when I have my period. Every hour I must insert a new tampon, the biggest size, and at night I have to get up all the time. What should I do?

One way to solve it is to start using birth control pills. This normally decreases the blood flow. If you already use birth control pills you could ask your doctor for an Intra Uterine System (in the Netherlands it’s called Mirena, another type is Progestasert). This looks like an IUD, but it releases hormones, making periods shorter and lighter. A year after starting Mirena about 75% of the women still has some light blood loss, while 25% doesn’t have periods anymore. As soon as you have it removed you can become pregnant. So this might be worth a try.
